Roller Town Set to Premiere in over 100 million Homes On Demand & on iTunes in the US August 14th

New York, August 9, 2012 – Duopoly announced today the sale of Canadian comedy feature Roller Town to leading digital distributor Gravitas Ventures for the film’s US premiere. Gravitas Ventures specializes in the aggregation of entertainment content for worldwide distribution via established and evolving platforms in cable Video on Demand (VOD), broadband, mobile and the airline/hospitality industries. Roller Town, a first feature for Andrew Bush and comedy troupe ‘Picnicface’, is a roller romp which lovingly skewers every dance film you never saw of the 70s and 80s. Gravitas is launching the film in over 100 million homes On Demand & on iTunes in the US on August 14th.
“VOD has become an indispensable release strategy for hysterical indies like Roller Town. We loved it at the Slamdance Film Festival, and are thrilled to collaborate with Andrew Bush, PICNICFACE and Duopoly on its release” commented Gravitas Ventures CEO, Nolan Gallagher.
True to the comic tradition unique to Canada, Roller Town, directed by Andrew Bush (The Button, a Funny or Die hit) and written by Bush, Mark Little and Scott Vrooman is the brain child of one of the freshest sketch comedy troupes on the comedy scene – PICNICFACE. Rude, irreverent, hilarious – Roller Town stars standup comic Mark Little (part of the 2011 Just for Laughs ‘Nerds Show’), newcomer Kayla Lorrette and the 8-member Picnicface group. Roller Town follows the story of Leo (Mark Little), a small-town roller-skating disco king (who happens to be an orphan with a back story) as he attempts to win the heart of the out-of-reach rich girl while staving off the hapless bad guys who are determined to kill the town roller rink. Once again, Canada scores with the funniest, weirdest take on a cultural phenomenon still dear to many: disco!
”The Roller Town creators are not strangers to digital platforms in the US and we intend to activate their huge online fan base for this premiere,” said Duopoly President, Catherine Tait.
